The Pastor's Pen
525,600 minutes. That is the total number of minutes in one calendar year. As of July 1st, I am no longer your NEW pastor. I am your pastor. Some of you will still call me young and comparatively speaking I am. To others – I am old. It feels like I have been here at Friendship for so much longer than a year. We’ve done hard and holy work this year together. I think about the various facility issues that have come and thankfully gone.
United Women in Faith
It’s hard to believe that it’s time for school to start again. We signed up 51 kids to receive school supplies this year, and they will be given out Saturday, August 1 from 10:00 am until noon. Seven of us were able to go to the Mission Center in Conroe on August 22 where we were able to put together 51 children’s hygiene kits to put in each bag of school supplies. Thanks Mission Center! We also put together family hygiene bags and were able to bring 20 of those back to be distributed to families in need at our Food Pantry.
We decided to put our Night Circle meetings on hold for the foreseeable future, since all of us are now able to attend the Day Circle meetings (the August Circle meeting is Wednesday the 5th at 10:00 am in the FLC).
Our next business meeting will be Saturday, August 22, with a guest speaker, Rev. Thea Curry-Fuson. At that meeting we will also finalize plans for United Women in Faith Sunday on August 30
Our message on UWF Sunday will be given by potter Rachel Norris of Joy Pottery. She will be demonstrating the use of the potter’s wheel in the making of pottery using the scripture Jeremiah 18: 3-6 which likens us to clay in the hands of God, the potter. Our theme is ‘Shaped by Grace, becoming a vessel of purpose.’ You won’t want to miss her inspiring and informative presentation. After the service we will again be having lunch and a silent auction and craft sale. This is our fundraiser for the year enabling us to supply the school supplies we give out and also give out food for a Thanksgiving meal to our Food Pantry clients. We hope you will all plan to attend.
We will be setting up for the silent auction and craft sale in the FLC on Saturday, August 29 beginning at 10:00 am Please have your items to us at that time.

Children's Ministry
This past month was filled with faith, fun, and fellowship in our Children's Ministry! During our Big Top Bible Heroes Vacation Bible School, children explored the faith and courage of Esther, the obedience of Jonah, and the missionary journeys of Paul. Along the way, they enjoyed exciting games, creative crafts, uplifting music, and many other memorable activities. A heartfelt thank you to all of the children, parents, and volunteers who helped make this event such a wonderful success.
We also enjoyed a fantastic Painting with Friendship event, where participants created beautiful artwork under the expert guidance of Lesley Chase. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this special fundraiser. Proceeds will benefit our Children's and Youth Ministries.
As we welcomed a new school year, we celebrated Promotion Sunday and our Backpack & Teacher Blessing during worship on August 2.
That afternoon, our Children's Ministry gathered at Bull Sallas Park for an afternoon of fun and fellowship at the splash pad.
The excitement continues this month! We will host Family Movie Night on August 9 at 5:00 p.m., and Children's Game Night on August 30 at 5:00 p.m. at 5:00 p.m.
